RACE DIVISIONS

The Maple Grove Triathlon presented by Life Time Fitness welcomes premier and avid triathletes, amateurs and everyone in between.

Premier Men and Women – International Distance Only

Athletes wishing to compete in the Premier Men and Women Division (formerly known as the “Elite Amateur” division) must have competed in a USA Triathlon sanctioned International Distance Triathlon within the past 12 months with an overall time of 2 hours 10 minutes for men and 2 hours 20 minutes for women. Athletes in the Premier Men and Women Division will not be eligible for age group awards.

Collegiate

Athletes who are currently enrolled in college and wish to race in representation of their school colors are invited into the collegiate wave. Collegiate athletes will race the International Distance course and start in a mass wave start grouped by their gender. Awards will be given to the top three in each gender category. Athletes participating in the Collegiate wave will not be eligible for age group awards.

High School

Athletes who are currently in High School and wish to compete in the Minnesota State High School Championships are invited into this wave. High School athletes age 14-18 years of age will race in the Sprint course event. High School Athlete will start in a specific wave. Athletes participating in the High School Championships will not be eligible for age group awards.

Age Groups

Age groups are broken down into 5-year increments, based on your age as of December 31 of the race year.

Buddy Wave

If you want to complete the race with another participant who is not in your age group (mom, brother, friend, etc.), the Buddy Wave is for you. This will be the last wave of the race. Buddy Wave participants will not be eligible for awards or age group placements but will receive a finishers medal and an official time. To join the Buddy Wave, choose this option through the registration process.

First Timer Wave

If your new to the sport and want to start with other first-time triathletes, join us in the First Timer Wave. This will be the second to last wave. First Timer Wave participants will not be eligible for awards or age group placement but will receive a finisher’s medal and an official time. To join the First Timer Wave, Choose this through the registration process.

Para-Athletes

Our course is wheelchair friendly, and we gladly welcome para-athletes to participate. Please email [email protected] if you plan to register in our para division.
